Confession of a Breastfeeding Mummy
Many people asked me whether I am still breastfeeding my 2.5 months baby, and my answer to them was yes. The respond that I got from them varies… Some actually said that they are too lazy to breastfeed their child, hence they opt not to breastfeed at all. Some said that their milk supply was low from the beginning, hence they ran out of milk by the time they come back from maternity leave.
As for me, I chose to breastfeed my kids exclusively for a year and continue up until they reach at least 2 years old.
I have managed to breastfeed Noah until I was 2 months pregnant with Zayd. It was really a heartbreaking moment to deny him the boobs when he asked for it. However, I was really weak from morning sickness at that point of time that I had to stop.
My breastfeeding journey with Noah had been a pleasant one but also with its ups and downs. I remembered all the pumping sessions at work (thank god I had my own room, though I had to share it with a colleague), even with my boss sitting in front of me. I have also pumped on the plane from KL to Istanbul and Istanbul to KL, with the ex-chief of navy sitting right next to me (but we were on business class, hence, the seats were not too close to each other).
I have also breastfed Noah while watching the kangaroos during our trip to Perth in 2010. I think the kangaroos were watching me feeding Noah instead at one point of time.. hehehe…
My EBM supply at that point of time was not that great. I didn’t have any extra stocks! Noah will consume what I express the day before. So, I memang akan menggelupur if I have to stay late at work, afraid that Noah tak cukup susu. But syukur Alhamdulillah, I have managed to survive and sustain for a year dengan takde EBM stock.
It is a different story for Baby Zayd. I have learnt through my first experience with Noah that I had to start expressing from the 1st week of confinement. My milk supply pun Alhamdulillah banyak this time around (melimpah-limpah). However, with the help of the Premium Beautiful bra, I had no breast engorgement problem like the one I had during Noah’s time. The bra, with the help of FIR helps to reduce engorgement and also helps with the milk production.
Hence, I have managed to store at least 3 weeks worth of EMB stocks by the time I start work. Well, stock takde la sampai sebulan worth coz I was too lazy to pump all the time. But 3 weeks worth of EBM is a lot, considering the fact that I tak pernah dapat simpan that much during Noah’s time.
We even had to purchase a deep freezer as the storage space in our freezer was not enough to store all the EBMs.
Unfortunately, there was a power outage few weeks back when we went for an overnight visit to my in-laws. Habis all my EBMs got spoilt! Memang hacur lulur hati when I had to throw all the EBMs away.
Since then, maybe due to the stress of not having any EBM stock, my milk supply had dropped. I only managed to pump out 2oz of milk per pumping session. Sedih!
However, since I have started consuming BB Plus Collagen, I can produce up to 10 oz per pumping session, if not more! Alhamdulillah, now I have managed to build up my EBM stock for Baby Zayd.
Bersyukur sangat that I was introduced to these amazing products now. That is why I wish to share their goodness with everyone!
